FOTA Inspire is the name of the training and consultancy service at FOTA Edinburgh and the Lothians. It builds on the work of that team but aims to go beyond that to create a support service for all FOTAs or DofE support organisations.

A series of Best Practice Guides covering areas of DofE support. These can be downloaded for free :

Marketing your DofE support organisation:

  • Bespoke logo for your association/Friends group. This can become your easily recognisable brand. For a one-off fee of £80, our designer would adapt our logo with your operating area and colours.
  • A mini-web site. For a one-off charge of £320 (plus a yearly hosting and management fee of £80) we can provide you with pre-populated pages similar in look to our FOTA Edinburgh and the Lothians site.
  • If you already have an existing website, you can link it to our FOTA homepage for free to encourage networking and shared ideas throughout all Scottish DofE support groups.

The mini-website would contain 5 pre-populated pages ready for you to insert your locally relevant information. We can link your local website to our FOTA homepage, allowing people to click on your link.

  • A home page, where you can talk about your organisation and have a news column to keep your supporters and volunteers up-to-date with what is happening with the DofE in your area.
  • A resources page where you can put up all the practical forms required by each Council to run the DofE e.g parental permission forms.
  • A volunteers page where you can advertise, in partnership with your local Operating Authority, all the training and events relevant to new and existing volunteers.
  •  A contact us page for your contact details and direct email.
  • An events calendar application.

Organisational Development and Support:

Here at FOTA E&L we have been developing our services in supporting DofE since 1998. You can consult us for all aspects of establishing a DofE support group similar to ours:

  • We can help you to recruit suitable Board members, give you constitutional advice, help you with applying to OSCR for charitable status.

  • Fundraising (we raised over £100K from grants and service commissioning in 2009/2010)
  • Strategic planning - Where would you like to take DofE in your area? In partnership with you, we can help to host an event locally pulling together all the relevant DofE stakeholders in your area
  • Help with developing delivery partnerships.

Specialist Expedition Services

  • We run BELA training throughout the year in Edinburgh at a cost currently of £250 per person (includes £50 Sports Leader UK registration fee).

We would be happy to put together a quote for you to have us run a BELA course in your area. Contact us with your requirements.

  • FOTA E&L are registered Approved Activity Providers with the DofE to deliver all aspects of the Expedition Section at all levels. Read some testimonials about our Expedition service.
  • We can deliver First Aid Training either in Edinburgh or in your area.

DofE Volunteer Training

  • We can deliver DofE Leader Induction Training (usually as a one day workshop)
