SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACHIEVE IN EDINBURGH AND THE LOTHIANS

Welcome

Here at FOTA Edinburgh and the Lothians we work in partnership with the local councils as Operating Authorities to support local delivery of the DofE programme.

We provide expedition support in Edinburgh to almost all secondary schools and to currently 4 Open Award Groups and 2 independent schools through our full-time Expedition Co-ordinator, teams of volunteers and our high quality kit hire store. We secure funding to extend the reach of DofE to disadvantaged young people to offer them additional support to complete their award (see Impact newsletter for our latest programme, Transitions).

We support DofE delivery throughout the Lothians area, taking in East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian. We are most active in Edinburgh where we share an office with the City of Edinburgh Council DofE manager but we are here when other Lothian DofE managers need us and we are increasing our networking: offering training and support services and hosting seminars of mutual interest (see Measuring our Impact event.)

We provide support to other Operating Authorities that are interested in setting up a FOTA support association for DofE in their area. (View our products and services for more information).
